Eliminating the Blow Dryer

Demonstrating how to create a good hair day without using a blow dryer, which dries out the hair and stresses the cuticle.

PHOTO

Straight hair needs volumizing at the roots for this updated look.

Straight Hair

  1. Condition hair before shampooing, so the conditioner won't weight down your hair as it dries.

  2. If you use a part, dry hair the opposite way you usually part it, then flip it over and comb in place at the last minute.

  3. Using a spray volumizer, lift up chunks of hair all around the head and spray at the roots.

  4. Finish the ends with a little hair wax to make the style look "piece-y" and modern.

Leaving wavy hair in a ponytail and bun while it dries helps tame the waves.

Wavy Hair

  1. Condition hair before shampooing.

  2. Put wet hair in a ponytail, using a scrunchy or covered rubber band. Twist hair around the rubber band to make a bund and secure with bobby pins. Leave up until the hair is dry (this will help control the waves).

  3. Undo the hair and apply a volumizing or control mousse to the hair, working it in moving down the hair cuticle.

Naturally curly hair needs a leave-in conditioner to keep it under control.

Curly Hair

  1. Condition hair before shampooing.

  2. Work a leave-in conditioner through wet hair.

  3. Next, towel dry wet hair using two towels to remove the maximum amount of moisture.

  4. Add more conditioner, working it all the way to the ends.

  5. Now, apply a leave-in serum that helps the hair to shine.
